HCTS research fellow
Dr. Amelia Bonea was featured in a recent BBC article titled “
Why India's fossil wealth has remained hidden”(January 17, 2022). The article sought to uncover why India’s rich fossil wealth has remained largely hidden from public view. Dr. Bonea’s contribution focused on the role of India’s colonial past and the postcolonial state’s failure to recognise the value of its fossil heritage. The article also featured insights from paleontologists Prof. Ashok Sahni (Emeritus, Panjab University) and Dr. Advait Jukar (Yale University/Smithsonian Institution), who are collaborating with Dr. Bonea on her DFG Project “Archives of the Earth: Fossils, Science and Historical Imaginaries in Twentieth-Century India".
