30 June 2019

The Department of Asian Studies at Palacký University Olomouc is currently accepting paper and panel proposals for its 13th Annual Conference on Asian Studies (ACAS) to be held on November 22–23, 2019 in Olomouc, Czech Republic. The general theme this year is Borders, Bridges, Intersections.

We welcome papers that concern any region in Asia and approach the conference theme from a variety of perspectives, including linguistics, literature, arts, cultural studies, media studies, sociology, anthropology, history, philosophy, political science, international relations, economics, cultural geography, and other fields. This year, we would also like to especially encourage contributions in the field of language teaching and learning.

We invite researchers, teachers, and postgraduate students to submit their proposals for individual presentations as well as organized panels dealing with a particular theme. In addition, there will also be a Student Poster Session which will allow undergraduate (BA) as well as graduate (MA and PhD) students to present the results of their research.

The language of the conference is English. The individual presentations should not exceed 20 minutes. Additional 10 minutes are planned for questions and discussion. The panels may include three or four topically related presentations and take up to 90 minutes, including the discussion. The proposals should be submitted in the form of abstracts (max. 300 words, including references, for an individual paper, and up to 1,000 words, including references, for a panel) as a PDF or DOC(X) file to by June 30, 2019. The abstracts must be anonymized. Please indicate your full name, title, and affiliation in the body of your e-mail. Decisions on the abstracts will be sent by August 31, 2019.
